Hot in Colorado!

The only thing hotter than the weather in Colorado was the roping of Jess Harris, who pocketed a whopping $5,980 in Loveland.

Our inaugural trip into Colorado was a huge success, drawing teams from even the Western Slope and Wyoming to try things out inside the beautiful arena at The Ranch. The appeal of the National All Amateurs format is spreading!

On Saturday, Harris won the #10 Roping with Jesus Terrazas in a time of 22.74 seconds on three steers to earn $5,260, and then teamed with Hardy White to win Colt Bruegeman’s Big Daddy 500 for another $6,700. Also on Saturday, Cash Merritt and Gerald Watson won the #9 Roping for $1,700.

Century Roping winners Socorro Gutierrez and Joe Stricklin, with a time of 29.99 seconds on three head, earned $1,180 and Gist trophy buckles on Sunday, so congratulations to them!

And in the #8 “No Wolves Allowed” Roping, Wendy Wiseman and Jack Lambert were the big winners with a 29.37 on three to split $2,000 and won two of the eight saddles awarded. Together, the #8 and #10 Ropings paid out more than $36,730 in cash and prizes!
